Perpetual Lessons: Explained
If you’ve been at Goldfish for a while, you’ve no doubt heard the phrase “perpetual lessons” floating about. But what does it mean, and why are they so important? Simply put: no swim sessions, no long lines at session sign-ups and no need to worry about reserving your spot early. Most importantly, perpetual lessons give your children the best opportunity to gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the water.
Each student learns at his or her own pace. That’s why, at Goldfish, they advance to the next swim level when they’re ready. Sometimes this can take a month, sometimes six. And that’s okay, because we believe in safer swimmers and skill mastery above everything else. Even more, it has been proven that kids who consistently take weekly lessons learn at a faster pace.
It makes sense when you think about it. The students that start swim lessons in June, stop when it gets cold in November, and start back up again in May are more likely to be rusty when they return to the pool versus the children that have been working all the way through.
Our goal with perpetual lessons is to eliminate the mentality of seasonal swim lessons because this approach usually leads to the loss of gained swim skills, which ultimately wastes your time andmoney. No one wants that.
Aside from the inherent educational benefits that go along with perpetual lessons, this structure actually makes the billing process much easier. While some swim schools ask you to pay for three-month periods up front, we bill you on a monthly basis, typically as a direct debit. It’s that simple. If you want to stop lessons for any reason, you just need to give us a 30-day notice prior to your last lesson.
And, if you’ve had issues with scheduling at programs in the past, scheduling at Goldfish is flexible. There is no monthly re-registration and if you’ve become comfortable with your weekly lesson time, you can count on being there, same time, and same place week after week. We want your child’s confidence and water safety to come first…and, with perpetual lessons, we’re eliminating the petty factors that can sometimes get in the way.
